Events in Malta this October
So the weather has finally cooled down a little bit, and summer is slowly reaching an end. If you're wondering what to do this October in Malta, here are a few events that we suggest going to:
Notte Bianca
Where?: Around Valletta
When?: Saturday, 3rd October 2015
Notte Bianca, is one of Malta's most popular and well attended cultural events and will be celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year! This year's event is set to be that little bit more special, with the organisers promising to have something lined up for everyone's tastes - from Drifting to Flamenco, to Maltese cuisine with a twist and gravity defying acrobats. Paqpaqli Ghall-Istrina
Where?: Malta International Airport
When?: Sunday, 4th October 2015
Paqpaqli Ghall-Istrina, is the annual car show held in aid of charity. This year car enthusiasts who attend the event will have the chance to drive world famous cars including a Ferrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spider, and for the first time in Malta a Koenigsegg. Other car related attractions will also be available to experience.
Mdina Grand Prix
Where?: Around Malta
When?: Thursday, 08th - Sunday 11th October 2015
The Mdina Grand Prix Classic Car Event consists of 4 days of activities with the climax being the classic car race on the 11th October. The circuit for the races will be the idyllic countryside beneath the imposing bastions of the old capital city of Malta, Mdina. The circuit is around 2.2km long and includes a combination of tight bends, sweeping curves and inclines that wind their way through the valley below Mdina.
Thursday 8th October - Hill climb
This is a stand alone event that gives competitors the chance to properly shake down their vehicles in preparation for the weekend's races. This year's hill climb will take place at at night and competitors will have to tackle the 'Ta' Pinellu" hill, a 2.5km stretch with some exciting bends and corners that promise to test the cars and their drivers.
Friday, 9th October - Le Concours d'Elegance
The Concours d'Elegance will this year be taking place in the recently renovated gardens outside the imposing walls of Mdina. The organisers will be inviting selected car collectors to bring out some true, classic automotive gems and display them in a setting like no other.
Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October - Races
Saturday starts off with two practice sessions in the morning, which will allow the drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit. In the afternoon, the cars will be given a chance to race around the track individually so as to define the starting order of Sunday's grid.
Sunday is when the real racing takes place. The cars are grouped into packs of 8 to 10 cars and are then set off around the circuit to provide a thrill for the drivers and spectators alike.

Birgufest
Where?: Around Birgu
When?: Friday 9th - Sunday 11th October 2015
This is another annual event that takes place in October. BirguFest aims to focus on the historic heritafe and architectural beauty of Birgu, also known as Vittoriosa. The event includes historic re-enactments, discounted entrances to museums, Churches and Auberges. However, the highlight of this event is the magical Birgu by Candlelight even that takes place on Saturday. On this night the streets and houses of this impressive city will be lit only by thousands of candles, adding a romantic touch to the city's historical ambience.
