Just Another Film Industry Update..

Filming for Michael Bay's latest film wrapped up just a few weeks ago. Yesterday we got a glimpse of the full title and the first trailer. I must admit, I never thought that Malta could become famous for being Benghazi, but after watching the trailer and listening to an interview with actor John Krasinski and producer Scott Gardenhour I feel proud that Malta played a part in helping them tell the true story of the attack on a U.S. compound in Libya back in 2012. The film tells the story of how the security team struggled to make sense out of the chaos.

Actor John Krasinski seems to have been mesmerised by the beauty of Malta, especially by our capital city Valletta. In an interview with a local media channel Television Malta (TVM), Krasinski said the following about Valletta:

"Waking up there every morning was such an incredible treat because you leave this pretty wild set and you'd wake up in the beautifully quiet, old historic city and it's totally inspiring. I love it!"

If you'd like to watch the full interview with Krasinski and Gardenhour you can click here. Just a heads up that the article is written in Maltese, but the video is in English,

The official title for the film was released earlier this week, and we can confirm that it is being called "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Click the video clip below if you would like to watch the official trailer or click here to visit the official website.

On a separate note, earlier this week the Malta Film Commission announced that Colin Firth's latest feature film based on the true story of amateur sailor Donald Crowhurst and his attempt to win the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race, a single-handed, around the world yacht race back in 1968. Colin Firth will be appearing as Donald Crowhurst, while his supporting actress will be none other than the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Weisz.

The film is being directed by the award-winning directory James Marsh, the brains behind films such as The Theory of Everything and Man on Wire.

This is the 5th major production to film in Malta this year, making 2015 a record breaking year for the local film industry.
