United Travel's Trips

The winter season started with a bang for us at United Travel as we’ve been very busy travelling around the world hosting meeting forums and attending Trade Fairs.

Our first trip came in mid-October, when I flew to Tenerife to help the Questex-McLean Events team with the onsite operations of HOTEC EU. This was the 16th edition of the event that brings together leading hotel purchasing, operations and technical directors, as well as interior and architectural designers to meet with the key leading domestic and international suppliers to participate in a series of one-on-one meetings over two dedicated business days. The chosen destination for this event was the beautiful Ritz Carlton Abama Resort in Tenerife, and the beautiful warm weather really helped in making sure everyone had an event to remember. The event started with a Welcome Dinner by the pool, and after the first day of meetings, everyone was treated to a sunset dinner at the resort’s own beach club!

Next up Iain and Becky attended Salon International Tourisme Voyages which was held in Montreal, Canada and was a consumer based trade fair. Our client based in Canada asked us to attend the event and exhibit on their stand. This was a massive show, with an estimated 33,000 visitors and 400 exhibitors, so exhibiting at this show was definitely a good experience.

At the end of last week, Ximena and Becky also attended the Global European Marketplace (GEM) organised by the European Tour Operator Association exclusively for their members. This event had around 230 buyers, including a large delegation from BRAZTOA. This was our second time attending the event, but the response we had from different suppliers was great.


As from today Iain, Ximena and Becky are also exhibiting on the Malta stand at World Travel Market, the leading global event for the travel industry, being held in London. If you are visiting feel free to visit them on stand EM1350, where you’ll be able to get an insight into the little island we love to call home, as well as getting a chance to taste some fresh, tasty Gozitan food.

Malta's Game of Thrones Locations

As Game of Thrones fans all over the world celebrate the eagerly awaited sixth season of the hit TV series, we thought that it would be appropriate to take a nostalgic trip back to the first season. Back to the season that saw Viserys receive his crown of gold, the execution of Ned Stark and the wedding of Daenerys to Khal Drogo. As some fans may know, a lot of season 1 was filmed on location in Malta and Ireland, so we decided to list some of our favourite locations in Malta.  1. Mdina Gate - King's Landing Gate Mdina is a walled hill town found in the centre of the island. Legends & Myths of Malta

Malta's mysterious, 7000 years of history together with it's strong religious background makes it the perfect backdrop to a number of legends, myths and folk tales. Most of the stories find their foundations in truth and historical facts, with each story being embellished by every generation that narrated it. Other stories were used as explanations of different phenomena that people could not explain. Here are some of our favourite myths & legends... St. Paul & The Venomous Viper This is legend is probably the best known amongst the locals, as it is about Malta's Patron Saint and can be found in the Bible.
